Celebration, Duo for Clarinet and Piano (2019)
A Commission from Mu Phi Epsilon Los Angeles Alumni Chapter for their centennial celebration, the Price Duo (Berkeley and Deon) premiered the work at the 100th Anniversary Concert, February 24, 2019, at Moss Theater in Santa Monica, California.
The short, whimsical, sectional piece begins with a knocking rhythm on the underside of the keyboard bed, then melodic fragments based on a five-tone set, which in a later section is transposed and a 6th tone added. Meter changes are mostly sectional with the final Allegretto in 7/8.
